While reading an article on the top 10 career regrets, it made me reflect back 3 years ago when my business partner and I made the jump and decided to start a business.
2 of these regrets stuck out to me personally:
2. I wish I had quit earlier.
“Almost uniformly, those who had actually quit their jobs to pursue their passions wished they had done so earlier.”
3. I wish I had the confidence to start my own business.
“A recent study found that 70% of workers wished their current job would help them with starting a business in the future, yet only 15% said they had what it takes to actually venture out on their own.”
I always new that I wanted to start my own business, I wouldn’t say it was lack of confidence that held me back, but more that I thought I had more to learn before I was ready. This belief led me to stay at a job that really wasn’t the right job for me. The thing with business is there is always more to learn, as Mark Cuban says, business is a sport that runs 24 hours a day / 7 days a week and anything I didn’t know then I soon learn’t very quickly. You have to.
There is a stat that is often quoted about new businesses that goes something like “50% of small business fail within the first 3 years” now I’m not sure if it is a true statistic or not, but I am both happy and proud to have made it to the 3 year mark. I’m excited about where our business is at and what we have achieved, what’s more I know I could not have made it here by myself. If you had told me 3 years ago the types of projects and clients we would be working with today I wouldn’t have believed you.
I’m looking forward to what the next 3 years holds!

Congratulations! You guys really put everything into Sennza, and it’s great to see it has paid off and you’ve not only survived, but flourished, over the last 3 years. It’s a real credit to you both 🙂
Thanks Japh! Appreciate the kind words. It definitely helps to have an amazing community to share ideas and thoughts with along the way.
Now everything you’ve learned from the last 3 years will help you go bigger & better for the next 3 – congratulations and good luck!
Thanks Brent! Couldn’t agree more, every week I learn something new 🙂
